The purpose of any assessment, formal or informal, is to get objective, relevant and actionable information. This information tells you (or the team/organization) where you are now; what are your current strengths; what development needs are important given your current situation and future goals; and what is your current level of effectiveness within core areas and competencies.
On the individual level, assessments are used to map personal and professional strengths, provide individual self-awareness, and jumpstart leadership coaching and development.
On the group level, assessments provide valuable mapping of group strengths and areas where there are gaps or unused potential.
On the organizational level, assessments provide a tactical or strategic overview that serves as a foundation for analysis, planning, and implementation. Depending on scope and deliverables, organizational assessment can direct the distribution of resources, improve productivity and effectiveness, or provide intelligence for future strategic initiatives.
